JUN AND JEAN URIARTE

We have been writing to you every month since 1995.

Scripture, family, and a long marriage lived for Christ. One letter a month, from our home to yours.

Why Aquila and Priscilla?

Aquila and Priscilla were a married couple in the early Church. Tentmakers by trade, they opened their home as a church, taught with humility, and risked their lives for the Gospel. Paul never mentions one without the other. Jun and Jean took their name because that is the kind of marriage they have tried to live.

THIS MONTH’S LETTER

Every month the newest letter sits here, written the way they have always written: a date, a Scripture, a few honest pages, and their names at the end.

A great sign appeared

Rev 12:1

Dear brothers and sisters,

This Letter begins with: October unfolds as a sacred tapestry woven in honor of the Holy Rosary, a devotion deeply anchored in the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary on the 7th of October. This enduring tradition is born from a pivotal moment in history when faith altered the course of destiny. Please read and reflect on the rest of the Letter.

With our love and prayers,

JUN and JEAN

Do not reject the one who speaks

Heb 12:25

Dear brothers and sisters,

We are pleased to share with you our reflection on the fifth and final warning in the Letter to the Hebrews. It contains the famous poem of C.T. Studd. Here is the first stanza:

Two little lines I heard one day, Traveling along life’s busy way;

Bringing conviction to my heart, And from my mind would not depart;

Only one life, ’twill soon be past, Only what’s done for Christ will last.

Happy reading and have a Spirit-filled reflection.

JUN and JEAN

We are among those who have faith

Heb 10:39

Dear brothers and sisters,

Our reflection brings us to the fourth warning (Hebrews 10:26–39), an account that transitions from a stark, cautionary threat into an assurance of profound hope.  While the events of Jean's 80th birthday do not fully align with the context of the fourth warning in Hebrews, we are delighted to share them with you. They “unveil a divine love that is beautiful yet fiercely holy” and mark a profound step in our “journey onward in faith, unto the saving of the soul.” Ultimately, they reinforce our conviction that “our truest devotion is forged and proven resilient in the quiet crucible of trials,” and thus “empowering us to withstand the fleeting afflictions of this world when our hearts are captivated by the assurance of a richer, everlasting inheritance in the heavens.”

With our love and prayers,

JUN and JEAN

Remain in me

Jn 15:4

Dear brothers and sisters,

Our reflection on the 2027 theme begins with this paragraph:

 It is with hearts full of joy and gratitude that we embrace the 2027 CFC theme: Abide in Christ. This theme is beautifully inspired by John 15:4-5, where Jesus proclaims: 4Remain in me, as I remain in you. Just as a branch cannot bear fruit on its own unless it remains on the vine, so neither can you unless you remain in me. 5I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit, because without me you can do nothing. We are immediately struck by how the core message – "remain in me as I remain in you" – is repeated three times within just two verses, highlighting its centrality to our faith.

 We look forward to our theme weekend retreat in January 2027.

 With our love and prayers,

JUN and JEAN]

ABOUT THE AUTHORS

Their home has been a house church. Their marriage has been a ministry.

Like their biblical namesakes, Aquila and Priscilla, Jun and Jean have never separated their marriage from their mission. They write with the wisdom of age and the wonder of two people still discovering God's faithfulness, still growing, still saying yes.
