About the authors of The Letters of Aquila and Priscilla
Some love stories are measured in anniversaries. Jun and Jean Uriarte's has been measured in continents crossed, communities built, and faith passed on like a torch that never dims.
They met as students at the University of the Philippines, building a foundation of learning that would later become a foundation for ministry. Jun went on to earn his Ph.D. at Carnegie Mellon University, but their real education was just beginning.
Married on September 8, 1968, they built a life rich in what matters most: five children, eight grandchildren.
The turning point came in 1992 when they joined Couples for Christ (CFC). What started as a commitment to their own spiritual growth became a global mission. They didn't just join a ministry—they gave their lives to it, carrying the Gospel to Myanmar, Laos, Hungary, Cambodia, Indonesia, and Thailand. In countries where Christ is little known, Jun and Jean became living witnesses that faith transforms everything it touches.
Jun's leadership has been extraordinary. He served on the CFC International Council (2011-2015, and again 2023-2025), chairs the CFC Institute, and remains a steadfast member of the CFC Board of Elders. But titles don't capture the essence of their witness. What defines them is simpler and more profound: they serve together, always.
Like their biblical namesakes, Aquila and Priscilla, Jun and Jean have never separated their marriage from their mission. Their home has been a house church. Their marriage has been a ministry. Their love for each other has pointed others to the Love that will never fail.
Now, through these monthly letters written over three decades, they invite you into their journey—not as spectators, but as fellow pilgrims. They write with the wisdom of age and the wonder of those who are still discovering God's faithfulness, still growing, still saying yes.
Their legacy isn't in the countries they've visited or the positions they've held. It's in the lives they've touched, the marriages they've strengthened, the faith they've ignited, and the next generation they've inspired to believe that holiness isn't reserved for monks and mystics—it's for married couples willing to walk together toward the Light.
Jun and Jean Uriarte prove what Aquila and Priscilla proved two thousand years ago: when two become one in Christ, their witness multiplies beyond what either could achieve alone.
